Introduction

Did you know the Study in New Zealand website is a powerful tool for referring potential international students to institutions like yours? We have high volume of quality traffic coming from key markets worldwide. Study in New Zealand aims to be the number one directory for international students considering studying here. By being so, it generates leads for institutions, schools and education agents. Having a profile will allow your institution to get this qualified leads and get in contact with prospect students. Therefore, it is important to list your institution and keep the contact details and information up-to-date. Your institution can be listed on our Study in New Zealand website at no cost to your organisation.

2. If you have a profile already…

That means that someone on your institution is likely to have access to it, since Study in New Zealand website has an admin area for institutions that allow their users to manage their institution profile directly themselves and decide what is displayed online, add pictures, and keep contact details up-to-date. If you don’t know who has access or you would like to have access to it, please contact Education New Zealand Support Team info@studyinnewzealand.govt.nz , so we can support you on this.

3. What you need to know first

We recommend you update your profile regularly and add any new information to make sure you take full advantage of the opportunity to showcase your institution to prospective international students. All the information provided by institutions in our admin area is used in the search tool and in the providers listings. That means students will only be able to find your institution in their searches if its profile contains accurate information about courses, scholarships, contact details, etc.

All the institutions have a login access where they can update information on their institutions directly themselves, therefore, it is important to get involved to ensure all the information is correct so the tool does an even better job of helping international students learn more about NZ institutions.

Also, the new system has been developed in conjunction with Hotcourses. We work with them to offer a powerful search platform and regarding data upkeep.

5. Highlight your institution’s strengths

Students referred to institutions by Study in New Zealand are significantly more likely to convert– reducing the time your institution needs to put into developing these leads. ENZ invests heavily in getting the right audience on institution’s behalf. Our focus is on sending you highly-engaged students, so we’re always working to increase the quality of referrals by enhancing our digital media, social, events and digital strategies. Your institution’s profile should therefore highlight your institution’s strengths and point of difference to appeal to prospective international students.

Some tips on how to create a better profile:

  • Spend some time to refine your institution’s unique selling points. Having a clearly articulated special character or point of difference will mean you can better appeal to prospective international students. Emphasise these unique selling points in the “Description” field using as many keywords as possible that are related to your unique selling point.
  • Make sure you complete information on the facilities your institution has. You can details your facilities by editing your campus information. In the admin area, go to: Menu> My Course Info > Venues > View Venues.
  • Add photos and videos not only for your institution, but also for your venues and departments
  • Check all the information of your courses and scholarships, and each time something changes, updates or new courses are launched, make sure you update this information In the admin area, go to: Menu> My Course Info

6. Ensure your institution’s website is international student-facing

In your institution profile, you can also set up what link to your official website the profile uses. Make sure you choose the best page for international students to see in their first contact with your site.

There’s no point in spending significant time refining your institution’s profile if prospective international students quickly leave your institution’s website once directed there. Check your website’s analytics to determine your bounce rate and to refine your website to enhance the experience for prospective international students.

7. Keep communication fluent with prospect students

As a result of your profile listed in Study in New Zealand, you will receive enquiries from prospect students that will come through to your designated email. These will come branded with ENZ’s logo, so you can easily identify those from any other enquiry. Students referred to institutions by Study in New Zealand are significantly more likely to convert, hence the importance of making the most of this warm lead. If your institution is experiencing a peak of work, setting up and auto-response to let students know their enquiry has been received and will addressed in due course is a good idea. You can also include in this auto-response some of the most commonly requested resources to direct students to explore your website and find information they may find useful.
